Overview of the Redmond RKM-4035 kitchen machine: a planetary mixer that can become a meat grinder, vegetable cutter and blender

The electric mixer is a modern high-power device for fast and high-quality whipping and mixing of various ingredients, for example, dough, milk, eggs, cottage cheese. This device is very convenient for making ice cream, cream, milkshake, mashed soup and much more. Submersible mixer can easily give the necessary consistency to your dish and make any dessert truly airy and tender!

REDMOND mixer: capable of much

An efficient and durable mixer must be electric. A hand whisk / whisk is considered a relic of the past and an extremely unproductive mechanism. In addition to fatigue, nervous strain and lumps in the mixed mass, one should not expect anything from him.

If you want to seriously expand your culinary field with new dishes, namely delicious milk shakes, whipped desserts, delicious and fresh cream soups, omelettes with various fillings, melting in your mouth - welcome to the world of reasonable conciseness and pragmatism. A reliable mixer is waiting for you! Take it!

Why do you need a mixer?

  1. Compactness - a small device that can be easily cleaned in any cabinet or drawer, while it is always ready for use without prolonged assembly.
  2. Convenience - using and cleaning the device is not difficult.
  3. Versatility - with it you can make a great variety of dishes: from dessert to cream soup.
  4. Simplicity - an elementary and relatively safe control - just attach the nozzles and plug in the power cord.
  5. The benefit is low cost.
  6. Importance - allows you to quickly make food and drinks for children.

Table of contents

With the concept, when in the presence of additional nozzles the planetary mixer can perform the functions of a meat grinder or vegetable slicer, we have already encountered. Redmond has gone further and is proposing to turn the RKM-4035 mixer into a 4-in-1 device. In addition to its main function, the Redmond RKM-4035 kitchen machine can simultaneously serve as a meat grinder, vegetable cutter and stationary blender.

For tests, the device was sent in the basic configuration, so we will focus on assessing the quality of work of a planetary mixer. Let's check how well the device kneads thick dough, mixes softer sticky masses and whips light products.

Equipment

The Redmond RKM-4035 Planetary Mixer is delivered in a box-box. On a black background there are photographs of the device itself, its individual parts and ready-made dishes. Traditionally for Redmond on the packaging you can find information about the device itself, its technical characteristics and capabilities. The box is not equipped with a carrying handle, which, in view of its weight, seems reasonable.

The device inside the box is fixed with foam inserts that protect it from damage during transportation. All parts and accessories, as well as the motor unit itself are packed in plastic bags. Opening the box, inside we found:

  • motor housing
  • a bowl with a lid,
  • a whisk nozzle, a dough hook and a spatula nozzle for mixing sparse ingredients,
  • recipe book
  • instructions and service book.

At first sight

The shape and construction of Redmond RKM-4035 are typical for planetary mixers. The color of the motor block is neutral and will look good in a kitchen of any style. An interesting “deep” gray color, streamlined shapes, an understandable simple design not only look attractive, but also create the feeling of a reliable and serious device.

The speed controller is in the usual place - in the lower right side of the case. Above and slightly to the left of it is a button to fix the hinged head.

On the back of the hinged head, you can see two rows of ventilation holes and the edge of the plug covering the installation location of the blender.

Under the plug is a slot for installing a blender.

On the left side on the hinged head is another plug. A clutch is hidden beneath it, in which a meat grinder attachment is fixed. Plugs that hide the drive shafts for working with additional accessories are removable and put on easily, intuitively.

Bottom on the back of the case is a power cord. The junction of the cable with the device is protected by a small flexible coupling. The length of the cord is small, but it seems to us sufficient. The case is not equipped with a cord storage compartment.

On the bottom side there are air vents, a sticker label with information about the device and four legs with rubber suction cups. The legs with suction cups contribute to better adhesion to the surface of the table, as well as damp the vibrations that occur during the operation of the planetary mixer. The legs perform their functions so well that you can tear the device off the table or move it on the surface only with considerable effort.

On the left side of the base there is a socket for installing the bowl. The depth of the nest is about 3 cm. On the outside there is a hint - an arrow indicating the direction of rotation of the bowl for fixing. A fixed bowl is firmly in the base, without any play.

Mixer bowl made of stainless steel. Its volume is 5 liters. The form is classic, in the center of the inner side of the bottom there is a cone-shaped protrusion that will allow you to evenly whisk and process small volumes of products.

The bowl is covered with a protective lid with a hole for adding ingredients during operation. It is made of transparent plastic, which will allow you to freely observe the metamorphosis of products, the course of kneading or whipping. The cover is inserted into a special socket on the inner surface of the drive shaft and is fixed by turning clockwise.

The whisk nozzle is made of stainless steel, the other two nozzles are all-metal silumin. The corolla ribs are fixed in a plastic sleeve. All parts in the upper part are equipped with a 7 cm diameter shield that protects the inner surface of the nozzle retainer from splashes, crumbs and flour. The shape of the flat nozzle and whisk are standard and unremarkable, but the hook for the dough is curious. On the hook there are two protrusions running along the part. One long narrow face is located closer to the narrow end part, with its bend it completely repeats the movement of the hook. The second protrusion is much shorter, is located approximately in the middle of the part and is oriented at an angle of 45 ° relative to the long. The purpose of this design, as we understand it, is to pick up a lump of dough and knead it more efficiently. Well, during the tests we will check whether this goal is achieved.

We were not disappointed with the inspection results for the Redmond RKM-4035 kitchen machine. The metal parts are well processed, their surface is smooth, without nicks. The motor unit is located on the table stably and reliably even with the head tilted, the parts do not play, they are interconnected smoothly, without gaps.

Instruction manual

The documentation set includes three brochures: an instruction manual, a recipe book and a service book. All documents are printed on high quality glossy paper. A5 format instructions contain information in three languages, the first of which is Russian. The study of the manual will allow you to get acquainted with the safety measures, the design of the kitchen machine and the name of its individual parts, as well as all aspects of operation. The information is accompanied by schematic images that are located on the first pages of the brochure.

The book contains 120 recipes, divided into categories: salads, snacks, main dishes, bread, pastries, sauces, desserts, creams, drinks. Recipes are presented as usual for Redmond. Half of the page is taken by a photograph of the finished dish, the second half contains a list of ingredients and the order of preparation. The main difference from recipe books to other devices is the remark “Not included in the basic package and purchased separately” found in almost two thirds of recipes. In a large number of recipes, there are also links to other devices of the manufacturer - ham, multi-bakers, grills, etc.

In any case, if the idea of a new dish is required, or the user is tormented by thoughts on the topic “what to cook”, then, after looking through the recipe book, you can be full of inspiration or just follow the recipe.

Control

The control of the Redmond RKM-4035 kitchen machine is to set and / or change the speed of the nozzle. In order to turn on the device and select the required speed, you need to rotate the speed controller. The regulator is located on the front side of the motor housing. When you turn the knob to the right, the rotation speed changes from the first to the sixth. Step by step. Speed increases smoothly. When you turn the knob to the left - in the direction of the letter "P" - the pulse mode is activated. To operate at maximum power, hold the regulator in position “P” for 3-5 seconds, then return it to its initial position for 1-2 seconds.

A little higher and to the left of the regulator is the button for fixing the main unit. When pressed, the folding head of the blender rises. The hinged part can be lowered only when the lock button is pressed all the way. In general, everything is simple and intuitive, so no training is required when working with the Redmond RKM-4035 planetary mixer.

Exploitation

Before starting operation, the instruction recommends wiping the motor unit with a damp cloth and rinsing all parts of the device in contact with food. Before assembly, all parts and accessories must be completely dry at room temperature. At the first start-up, as well as when operating at high speeds, the device emitted a specific smell of burnt grease.

The purpose of the basic Redmond RKM-4035 kit is obvious and determined by the available nozzles - a whisk, a hook and a spatula:

  • the whisk is intended for whipping cream, eggs, cooking air creams, mousses and other desserts,
  • a flat nozzle (in the instructions it is called a whipping nozzle) is necessary for the preparation of creams, glazes, liquid fillings and sauces, and also, add on our own, mashed potatoes, soft dough for waffles, cookies, etc.,
  • the hook allows you to knead a thick dense dough.

During operation, the kitchen machine did not bring us any surprises - all operations are standard and familiar. There are no problems with the assembly. First, a working bowl is installed in the socket on the base. Then, the bowl guard and nozzle are fixed on the raised main unit. The cover must be put on the hinged head of the mixer before installing the nozzle. Preparation for work is completed by pressing the lock button and lightly pressing on the hinged part of the motor block - the nozzle is lowered into the bowl with ingredients requiring kneading.

The kitchen machine is protected against improper assembly - the appliance will not turn on if the main unit is in the raised position.

Due to the wide opening in the lid, the addition of ingredients directly during the operation of the mixer becomes a clean, convenient and safe operation.

Continuous operation time should not exceed 15 minutes. Between switching on it is recommended to take a break of 30 minutes. We were not able to find information on the maximum and minimum permitted volume of products. During the tests, we successfully beat three eggs and prepared about 1.8 kg of mashed potato.

Requirements for the maximum allowable temperature of processed products were also not found. However, in the manufacture of marshmallows, we added agar-agar syrup with a temperature of about 80 ° C to the whipped fruit-protein mixture. No deformation of the parts of the kitchen machine or its case occurred (they worked without a protective cover).

By the way, we performed almost all the tests without the lid of the bowl, which allowed us to draw conclusions about the degree of spraying during the operation of various nozzles. The device practically does not spray food when whipping and kneading. Spray falls on the walls of the bowl, of course, but the internal surfaces of the main unit remained completely clean even when whipping a large amount of marshmallow at high speed.

The hinged head does not rise even when working and kneading. The device can vibrate, but all movements are neutralized by rubber suction cups.

Finally, let's say a few words about the stability of the device. Thanks to the suction cups, the kitchen machine adheres to the table surface so reliably that it is very difficult to lift and move the motor block at the end of work. We poked the edges of the two suction cups - so they came off the table and moved the case.

The main requirement when caring for the Redmond RKM-4035 is to clean all the nozzles and parts of the device immediately after use. The bowl can be washed in a dishwasher, all other removable parts - only manually with warm water. Wipe the cabinet with a damp cloth. It is forbidden to use abrasive and chemically aggressive substances for cleaning.

Nozzles are easily washed, we cleaned the whisk with a soft dishwashing brush, the hook and flat nozzle with a sponge and a drop of ordinary detergent.

Our measurements

We recorded the maximum power in the pulse mode when whipping the marshmallow. The mixer worked at approximately 230 watts. Depending on the raw material, its volume, operation and speed, the device showed a power of 60 to 180 watts.

Noise level can be estimated as average for planetary mixers. With increasing speed, the noise level also increases.

In none of the tests did we manage to exceed the recommended time of continuous operation - the device coped with all tasks faster.

Marshmallows

Apple puree - 250 g, sugar - 200 g, protein - 1 pc, agar-agar powder - 8 g, water - 160 ml, sugar - 350 g, icing sugar for sprinkling.

First prepared the base for marshmallows. The core was removed from the apples and baked in the microwave. They peeled the flesh from the peel and rubbed it through a sieve. 200 g of sugar was added to 250 g of the prepared puree and mixed until the sugar was completely dissolved. Since we used apples with a large amount of pectin, the mashed potatoes turned out to be thick, so we did not begin to boil and evaporate excess moisture. After the puree has cooled to room temperature, put it in the mixer bowl and put the bowl in the refrigerator.

Meanwhile, they prepared everything for cooking the syrup and planting the finished marshmallow. The mass freezes quickly, so there will be no time to run around in search of baking sheets and cover them with parchment. Agar-agar was poured with water. When the mass began to heat up and the powder dissolved, sugar was added and mixed well.

They took a bowl of mashed potatoes from the refrigerator and began to whip it.

At 5 speeds, the mixer worked at 140 watts. After a minute of work, when the mass brightened and increased in volume, protein was added and the speed was increased to a maximum sixth. A minute later, they reduced it to an average fourth. In total, the apple mass with protein was whisked for 4 minutes. During this time, it increased in volume and acquired a snow-white color.

At the same time, they watched the syrup and constantly stirred it. When the syrup reached a temperature of 110 ° C, removed the saucepan from the heat. If there is no thermometer, then you can focus on the density and consistency of the syrup. The syrup should drain from the scapula or spoon with a long thin thread, without interruption and not dripping. They allowed the syrup to cool to 85 ° C and began to pour it in a thin stream into the apple-protein mass whipping at 5th speed.

When all the syrup with agar-agar was added, they continued beating while waiting for the mass to cool and thicken. Then transferred half of the marshmallow to a pastry bag. In the remainder, a few drops of red dye were added and the blender was turned on at the 6th speed for another 20-30 seconds.

After they put the marshmallows on the parchment, they removed the baking sheets and the boards with it in an inaccessible place.

After 20 hours, the surface of the marshmallows slightly dried out, but remained a bit sticky. Halved and bonded halves in powdered sugar. The structure turned out to be correct - the marshmallow does not crumble, keeps its shape perfectly, slightly springy when pressed.

They say that ready-made marshmallows can be stored in a container for about a week. Unfortunately, we cannot say anything about the shelf life. Usually marshmallows disappear within two to three days.

Result: excellent.

Rye bread

Recipe number 42 from the complete book.

Premium wheat flour - 240 g, rye flour - 240 g, sugar - 15 g, salt - 10 g, quick-acting dry yeast - 6 g, water - 300 ml, vegetable oil - 20 ml.

Warm water, yeast, sugar and 100 g of wheat flour were mixed in a separate container. Leave the mixture for 15 minutes to activate the yeast. Both types of flour and salt were poured into the mixer bowl and mixed well. They made a deepening and added a yeast mixture and vegetable oil.

We installed a hook for the test and started working at the second speed. As you knead and form a lump of dough, the power consumption increased from 70 to 120 watts. The hook showed excellent performance - 800 g of medium-density test (denser than regular yeast and only slightly softer than fresh dumplings) was kneaded in 3.5 minutes. The hook grabbed the forming lump of dough, very quickly interfered with all the flour, and then began to knead the dough with blows on the walls of the bowl, and rotating the hook inside the lump of dough.

As a result, the walls of the bowl are clean, the dough does not stick to the hands.

The bowl with the dough was covered with a film and put in an oven preheated to 30 ° C for 30 minutes. Then they healed the risen lump, put it in shape and returned it to the oven for a second proofing. Bake at 190 ° C for 30 minutes.

The crust of the loaf turned out to be baked, crispy, pulp with uniform small pores.

Result: excellent.

The shape of the hook, which attracted our attention already at the inspection stage, exceeded all expectations. With its help, literally in minutes you can prepare a dense dough without interruptions to shake off flour and adhering pieces of dough from the sides of the bowl. The dough is kneading quickly and very efficiently.

Coconut Wafers

Coconut oil - 200 g, sugar - 150 g, egg - 3 pcs., Kefir - 50 g, premium wheat flour - 150 g, coconut flour - 100 g, baking powder - 1 tsp.

Installed on the mixer a flat nozzle for mixing. Put melted coconut oil, sugar, kefir and eggs at room temperature in a bowl. For 30 seconds, mixed at the 2nd and 3rd speeds. Without stopping the work, dry ingredients were gradually added.

It turned out a dough of medium density. From the features of the mixer it was noticed that the products that fell on the walls of the bowl, heavily interfere with the dough. So once I had to stop work, shake off the flour and scrape the dough from the walls in the middle, under the nozzle.

When the dough was ready, scented waffles were baked in a multi-bakery.

Result: good.

Apple Charlotte

Eggs - 5 pcs., Sugar - 250 g, premium wheat flour - 250 g, liquid vanilla extract, apples.

Beat eggs with sugar at maximum speed. For 4 minutes, the mass increased in volume, became airy, with dense air bubbles. At the end, a teaspoon of vanilla extract was added. The photo shows that there is practically no spraying when whipping.

Reducing the speed of work to the second, gradually sifted the sifted flour. The dough only slightly decreased in volume, i.e., the mixing of flour into the liquid component was successful and rather delicate.

Prepared apples were added to the dough. Gently, mix the dough with the filling from top to bottom with a spoon and put it in a mold greased with butter and sprinkled with semolina. Bake at 190 ° C for about 50 minutes.

When baking, the dough almost doubled in height. Charlotte is magnificent, air bubbles in the pulp are medium-sized and homogeneous.

Result: excellent.

Mashed potatoes

The potatoes were boiled, the broth was drained and the hot product was placed in the mixer bowl.

For the preparation of mashed potatoes used a flat nozzle for mixing. The mixer was running at minimum speed. After the potatoes were mashed, warmed cream and a raw egg were added. Stirred for some time. They did not interfere in the process. The power of the mixer averaged 60 watts.

It took the mixer just two and a half minutes to make almost two kilograms of mashed potato. Uniform mashed potatoes, small slices of unfinished potatoes were extremely rare. The consistency is light, airy. Mixing speed was not excessive. Served, remembering the young years and student canteens, with butter, green peas and sausage.

Result: excellent.

Conclusions

Based on the results of testing, the Redmond RKM-4035 kitchen machine can be considered a good planetary mixer. The appearance of the device is quite neutral, the mixer does not attract too much attention, while successfully coping with the tasks assigned to it. The noise level is rated by us as average. A set of nozzles is standard and covers all typical operations: whipping, kneading soft and dense dough.

The great advantage of this kitchen machine over a planetary mixer is that the user has the opportunity to independently expand its configuration. Moreover, you can buy only those attachments that you need, be it a meat grinder, vegetable cutter or blender, thereby avoiding the accumulation of unnecessary things in the house, as is often the case when buying food processors.

The only remark that we were able to identify relates to the operation of a flat nozzle while mixing sticky viscous masses. Dough may stick to the walls of the bowl, flour or liquid components of the dough that are added directly during the batch can remain. Therefore, once you have to stop the work and shake the adhering to the middle of the bowl. In contrast to the work of a flat nozzle, experiments with a hook for kneading dense types of dough made the most favorable impression: the dough is perfectly kneaded right before your eyes.
