Any interior reflects the tastes and preferences of those living in it, carries information about the individuality and characteristics of its inhabitants. The modern interior, first of all, is the unity and diversity of its elements, creating a comfortable and stylish atmosphere. Some innovative techniques, ethnic traditions, a combination of colors and shapes of objects and finishes, textiles and lighting help to style the room. Style is an artistic expression of a basic design idea.
Along with the development of art and industrial production, design trends also developed. Since the creative potential of designers is unlimited, more and more interior styles are now appearing, of which there are more than 20. In order to have an idea in which style to decorate the interior, you need to take a brief excursion into recognizable areas of design.
Classic style
Classic style - originated in the XVI century, in France. It is characterized by laconicism and rigor, and the main goal of classic designers was to visually enlarge the room, even if it was originally small.
Characteristic features of the classic style:
- the clarity and smoothness of the shapes of interior items,
- a small amount of furniture
- large windows, columns,
- many paintings on the walls,
- unusual lamps in the form of candlesticks, floor lamps with a lampshade,
- thick satin or silk curtains with lace, often complemented by a light veil,
- decorative bedspreads, velvet pillows with fringe, embroidery,
- expensive wood dining furniture, often decorated with carvings.
Baroque
Baroque - this style originates in Italy, in the 16th century. It is distinguished by brightness, unusual shapes, piling up, excessive luxury. Certainly, baroque is not suitable for a small room due to the use of a large amount of furniture, but you can use small details characterizing this style in the decor.
Baroque style features:
- the room should be bright, striking, this can be achieved by the contrast between the color of the walls and the ceiling with the floor,
- wall decoration with frescoes (fresco - mural technique, painting on raw plaster),
- as a light source, various chandeliers with many shades are mainly used,
- an abundance of furniture (many pillows, paintings, tables, light sources) and ornament on them (vases with flowers, the presence of a pattern on wallpaper, carpets)
- wall covering with velvet,
- gilded jewelry is an important part of the Baroque style, they decorate mirrors, picture frames, furniture and accessories.
Empire
Empire - a style that emerged in the XVIII century in France. In many ways, it resembles a classical style: symmetry, orderliness, solemnity, the absence of frills (in this regard, the empire is the opposite of the Baroque style), but the presence of sheer splendor. This style is truly royal! We list the features of the style:
- theatricality, unusual interior design: the legs of tables and sofas were made in the form of sculptures of animals (sphinxes, griffins) or in the form of lion paws,
- sophistication and rigidity - the main feature of the Empire style, the furniture was made exclusively of expensive wood and moderately decorated with precious metals, there was always a carving on the furniture,
- beds with a magnificent canopy from silk or velvet,
- monumentality, the presence of columns, massive supporting parts of furniture, many mirrors.
Minimalism
Minimalism - arose in the XX century. It is characterized by simplicity, ideal proportions and spaciousness. When you design a room in a minimalist style, you should remember the main rule: less furniture, more functionality.
We list the main features characteristic of the style of minimalism:
- minimum items, minimum clutter,
- large windows, a lot of light, the absence of curtains or curtains, instead of which blinds are preferable, the difference from classicism is the absence of smooth lines,
- the color scheme is not diverse, most often 2-3 light colors and 1 saturated (to create contrast) come into play, the lack of ornament everywhere,
- since minimalism tends to the maximum of utility, the furniture is most often used built-in (to save space).
Eclecticism
Eclecticism is a trend that arose in Europe in the 18th century. It is characterized by the absence of any systematization, since it involves a mixture of several styles. Styles of different origins are mixed to end up with a unique room interior. Due to this peculiarity, the eclectic style is still very popular.
The main features of the style:
- Of particular importance are the small details that make up the whole image (souvenirs, carpets, caskets, dishes, antiques, painting objects),
- rich colors, consisting of many bright and seemingly incompatible colors with each other, but everything is selected in such a way that any details and accessories complement each other.
High tech
High-tech - owes its origin to English designers of the XX century. It belongs to modern styles and has some similarities with minimalism, for example, high-tech also does not like excesses and strives for manufacturability and functionality.
High-tech style highlights:
- high-quality built-in furniture with many features,
- glass doors, tables, glassware,
- shiny and transparent surfaces (walls, furniture, fittings),
- lack of ornament and patterns.
Country
Country - originated in England. Most often - this is the interior in a village house, cozy and so dear. As materials are used: wood, stone, tile. Handicrafts such as embroideries, tablecloths, napkins are of particular importance.
Country style features:
- lack of high-tech furniture,
- mandatory presence of a fireplace, rugs,
- The main condition is comfort and coziness.
Modern
Moder n - appeared in the XIX century. The Art Nouveau interior includes painted windows with stained-glass windows, spiral staircases, and unusual-shaped mirrors. In other words, modernist designers are creative in creating decor, trying to put as much visible art as possible into it.
Romanticism
Romanticism - appeared in America, in the XVIII century. It is characterized by restraint, refinement, simplicity. Furniture is particularly convenient compared to furniture of other styles of the 18th century. For the first time, priority is given not to appearance and decoration, but to comfort.
Ethnic style
Ethnic style - reflects the cultural life of peoples. There are African, Chinese, Japanese, German styles. When creating the interior, all national colors and folk preferences are preserved. These can be handicrafts, sculptures, symbols, in general, ethnic attributes.
Antique style
Antique style - arose around the II-III century BC. Now it is the architecture of ancient cities such as Rome. Ancient art was based on mythology, so in the interior you could often find wall paintings, images of gods, various sculptures.
Gothick style
Gothic style - appeared in France in the XII century. Gothic features an elegant fireplace. Stained-glass windows and dome-shaped windows were very popular. As a material for furniture, wood and metal were used (for accessories).
Kitsch is a very sharp style, striving to show its wealth, which actually does not exist. The interior used cheap materials, instead of real works of art - fakes. Screaming colors, lack of order, originality.
Techno
Techno is not a style for lovers of home comfort, and the interior is more like a production room. White and gray colors with the inclusion of metal and glass characterize the style. There is little furniture, it is low and avant-garde. Lighting on the contrary a lot, located in different areas of the room. Lamps look like space objects or production elements. A typical technique in the decoration is a brick fragment, painted or bare.
Mediterranean style
Mediterranean style - this natural and fresh interior recreates the atmosphere of the sun, sea and south. Light colors in combination with blue, cyan and green prevail. Furniture is simple, handmade. Ornamental or rough finish with plaster. Widespread use of tiles in wall and floor cladding. Artificially aged items look good.
Scandinavian style
Scandinavian style - the interiors are always bright, not laden with decorative details, with bright pillows and original plaids, which creates a feeling of comfort and simplicity. The furniture is conducive to relaxation and friendly meetings. The windows remain "undressed".
Pop Art
Pop art - a bright, expressive, template-free interior suitable for young people and creative people. It abounds in rich colors in contrasts. At some points acid shades are used. Instead of paintings on the walls are posters, posters, photo collages. Lighting with LED and neon lamps creates a sense of illusion. The furniture used is transformers, built-in wardrobes, pull-out beds.
Constructivism
Constructivism - the interior in this style is thought out and planned. Finishing materials are wood, glass and metal. Furniture and accessories are subordinate to the idea of comfort. There is almost no decoration. The palette of gray, metallic, black-and-white and red shades is most often used in the interior. The main rule of style is simplicity and convenience. Additional components can be objects of geometric proportions.
Manga
Manga is the style of Japanese comics and anime. There are no strict rules. The color scheme is based on 2-3 colors of a romantic orientation. More suitable for teenagers. Attributes of the manga interior consists of images of favorite cartoon characters and an abundance of expensive household appliances and media devices. Furniture in the spirit of Japanese minimalism, small and functional.
Vintage
Vintage - in vintage interiors, original and antique objects are combined, the main thing is that they all cover the same period of time and geography. The retro interior is done in discreet colors. Natural materials are used without a hint of modernity: paper wallpapers and lampshades, wooden furniture and natural textiles.
Brutalism
Brutalism - is a deliberately rude interior, in which there is no decoration or imitates building structures. The brutality effect of the room is made by concrete and stone, as well as open communications. Simple shapes and heavy details place emphasis in such a room.
Neobrutalism
Neobrutalism - open structures are often used in the decoration of this style. And the materials for decoration are not so different from those very open designs. Beams, unfinished ceilings, concrete or brick walls in plasterboard boxes or behind wallpaper are not hidden here. On the contrary, they are coated with clear varnish. And metal frames, steps of wooden stairs, window frames and rafters only emphasize the austere beauty of the design.
Modern styles
My recommendation is to choose a design style for yourself among the modern ones. The goal is to get a stylish and functional interior, and not “expensive” or luxurious.
All modern trends mix well with each other, and the boundaries between them are very arbitrary. This makes it possible for us to combine the attributes of various styles and make a truly unique design.
For example: a selection of unusual kitchen designs, where you often can’t tell what style they are in.
Art Deco
An eclectic style where the rule about the inadmissibility of mixing modern and classic styles is violated. Glamor, high cost, deliberate chic and very bold combinations of colors, shapes and eras. A sophisticated style that has virtually no limits.
I advise you to consider it only if there is an unlimited budget and a professional designer is involved. Read separately: Art Deco in the interior, Living room in the style of Art Deco.
Eco style
The name of the style speaks for itself. It combines natural materials, elements of wildlife and natural colors. The furniture is only simple and regular in shape. To decorate the interior, artificial grass, stones, natural wood accessories are suitable. The safest style in terms of probability of errors. Natural materials and colors cannot be mistaken.
Retro style
Yes, modern retro style. Such a design hyperbolizes ideas about some era from the past, for example, America of the 60s.
By the way, life hack: some models of old Soviet armchairs almost do not differ from models from America of the 60-80s. Differences only in the color of the upholstery. It should be bright yellow, red or blue. Many flea markets have ads for buying such seats - these are cunning designers.
Boho style
It was born in France as a desire to cheaply decorate and fine-tune living space with design elements, rather than decoration. A lot of bright colorful things with the history of bought at flea markets, which serve as decor. Finishing is simple and cheap. A good option for decorating a temporary home, but not as the main style for a full renovation.
Kitsch is an extravagant, even rebellious style that denies classical art. Modern interiors in this style destroy all stereotypes about design.
The main features of kitsch are a combination of incongruous shades, many accessories from different cultures, mixing details inherent in opposite styles, deliberate emphasis on the "authenticity" of classical objects.
However, you should not confuse thoughtful design kitsch with bad taste. For true kitsch, a certain glamor is inherent, which is emphasized by accessories that deliberately resemble classics. These are curtains and drapes made of simple fabric, artificial fountains. For finishing materials, imitations are also used - foam columns, “wooden” cabinets made of plastic, or a laminate imitating marble.
Kitsch can be characterized in two words - plain chic. The main thing is not to overdo it with extravagance so that you can live in such an interior.
The most risky interior style - categorically do not recommend.
Classic styles
The budget for repairs in the classical style is much larger than for the modern style. Such repairs are always a risk. Even a small number of small mistakes can turn classics into a collective farm.
Therefore, the main rule when repairing in the classics: be sure to hire a designer and lay a decent budget, or do not meddle in the classics. It sounds rude, but such a repair is always an unusual case. In order to get involved in it, you need to have absolute confidence in your abilities, tastes and budget.
Provence
Provence could be attributed to ethnic, as it’s essentially a French style interior. The only one of the classic styles that I personally do not disgust.
Provence is not about high cost or luxury, but about comfort and tenderness. A large number of textiles, pastel unsaturated colors (mostly pale blue), bronze instead of gold, smooth lines in the whole design. This creates the mood of the French province.
Vanguard: style innovation
The avant-garde style moved into interiors from art in the early 20th century.
This innovative direction involves the use of the most modern materials and household appliances, unusual furniture and the skillful use of a color palette for styling rooms.
The contrast in the design of the walls, windows and doorways of an unusual shape, illuminated niches and furniture according to an individual project - this is only a fraction of the interesting details characterizing this unusual style.
Do you like a rich color palette, original decor and non-trivial combinations?
- then this style will interest you!
English style: respectable restraint
To recreate the environment in which Sherlock Holmes, Bernard Shaw and Laurence Olivier lived was not difficult. The English style will suit both extensive home ownership and an ordinary apartment. The main thing is to observe the basic principles: conservatism, home-style, elegance. It should be remembered that the style was formed for a long time, and therefore antiquities - a slightly shabby carpet, a mirror in a bronze frame or a picture - emphasize its origins.
If we are talking about a house, then the hall is welcomed, you can not do without a fireplace, real or artificial. Another important attribute is the library.
When choosing between fashionable and natural materials, give preference to wood and stone. However, it is permissible to replace the parquet with “wood-like” tiles, and wallpaper the walls with discreet stripes, paint them in fawn, milk, saffron colors or panel them.
The English style loves furniture: Chesterfield sofas, secretary, wicker chairs, chests of drawers, a desk and a tea table, a sideboard, a grandfather clock and other old-fashioned items. An auxiliary role in the chandelier in the dwelling, lighting functions, mainly, are performed by two-horn sconces, floor lamps and table lamps. Traditionally, there are a lot of textiles: these are solid carpets, and heavy curtains, and long ones, on the tablecloth floor, and, of course, rugs.
There is a place in the house for trinkets: heirlooms, caskets, smoking pipes, souvenirs, as if brought from the colonies.
The English house does not tolerate empty shelves and countertops: on any horizontal plane pretty things should show off to the heart.
Arabic style: Oriental luxury
The Arabic style will create a comfortable and rich atmosphere at home. Graceful geometric patterns, lines and complex ornaments are used everywhere, which gives the premises a special aesthetic.
The style is characterized by rich lighting and a color palette.
The furniture, mainly made of dark wood, is decorated with carvings. Necessarily present cabinets, footrests, ottoman, low sofa and table, four-poster bed.
The Arabic style involves some privacy, so it does not have the trendy European open-plan layouts.
Art Nouveau (Art Nouveau): luxurious sophistication
If you are admired by the exotic landscapes of Gauguin and the witchcraft portraits of Vrubel, the languid beauties of Alphonse Mucha and flowing like a stream of waterfall from the line of Gaudi’s buildings, then you are a fan of the soft aesthetics of Art Nouveau.
Seamlessly curved, elaborate lines are the main principle of this style.
Doors and windows, cupboards and fireplaces are given an arched shape, and a floral ornament decorating walls, railings, furniture and curtains is a prerequisite.
Art Nouveau - a reception so picturesque that, in fact, does not require many third-party details. Such an interior will be especially interesting to people who are extraordinary, confident and possessing impeccable taste.
African style: all colors of the savannah
As you know, the black mainland is the ancestral home of man. This must be why the African interior is popular far beyond the hot continent.
To create a "little Africa" under the power of everyone. The main thing is not to overdo it with accessories that can turn a living room into a branch of an ethnographic museum.
Dynamics, expression, flashy coloring, these are three whales on which the idea of the African style rests. The walls are painted in shades of clay and sand, scorched soil, dry grass, dense jungle, boldly add hard rubber (shelves can do this), spots of scarlet, gold, amber. You can draw animal figures from the legendary African five (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo), paint the walls “in the skin” of a hippo or crocodile, give them a pattern of cracked earth.
The furniture is deliberately primitive, heavy, possibly with colorful painting.
For upholstery using fabrics with "predatory" prints, and decorate the room with African masks, wooden dishes, figures of giraffes and antelopes.
Lamps - wall, with the effect of live fire. Hanging ropes on the ropes, bamboo curtains, a rattan chair and a pair of mats complete the African fantasy.
Bauhaus: the cult of functionality
Formed at the beginning of the twentieth century, this direction of design became the rule for those who considered interior luxury a bourgeois relic, vulgarity and tinsel. The Bauhaus is characterized by practicality and versatility, simple, rectangular shapes, modern materials and machine technologies, a minimum of decorative elements.
The interior involves zoning and various lighting intensities for different corners of the home. Style resources - metal, plastic, glass, to a lesser extent wood and leather.
The walls are plastered or pasted with tapestries with an inconspicuous geometric pattern. As flooring, linoleum, tile, laminate are suitable.
The ceiling is necessarily multi-level (in fact, the ceiling of different heights is the know-how of the developers of this style).
Furniture is ergonomic, durable and affordable to any pocket. This, in particular, built-in wardrobes, armchairs without handles, chairs made of bent tubes, tables, transformers.
The color range is neutral with bright accents (for example, beige and green or gray and red).
The role of jewelry is taken by samples of modern household appliances.
Biedermeier: the charm of the bourgeoisie
The style has German roots. Arising in response to the riots and strikes of the nineteenth century, it symbolized the desire of the middle class for stability and peace. Keeping the motives of luxurious historical styles, Biedermeier simplified them, transforming the palace qualities into homely and even partially bourgeois.
Biedermeier style housing is characterized by integrity, proportionality, geometric simplicity and natural color. His details are a white oven, small cupboards with dishes, wall or floor clocks, embroideries, music boxes, figures of shepherdesses, and other sentimental little things.
The walls are decorated with wallpaper in warm colors with a small pattern or sheathed with wooden panels, the floor is covered with parquet or laminate.
Furniture is usually made of light wood, with flowing backs and armrests, bent legs, with floral ornaments. Large round tables, corner cabinets, a bureau and dressing table dominate ...
Bionics: progressive stylization
Bionics is a very peculiar style in architecture and interior design. Its essence lies in the close connection of nature and new technological advances.
Bionic interior design is the most progressive, and at the same time natural and close to nature direction.
It is characterized by: predominantly light colors, non-standard methods of zoning, structural structure, design on the principle of modular designs.
Such an outstanding and modern style, any room will make it unique, original, functionally thought out and as comfortable as possible.
Boho: colorful freedom
Recently, he boldly stepped from street fashion into homes. Emancipated, eccentric ... Boho-chic is a godsend for creative personalities, for those who are denied by monotony and everyday life.
It is characterized by colorfulness, eclecticism, a large number of textiles and hand-made items.
Walls can be glued or painted, guided by your own taste and wallet. Floor - wood or tile.
Boho was created for vintage furniture, however, modern sofas, armchairs made of twigs, chairs with wrought-iron backs will get along well with it.
Patchwork rugs, paths, rugs, bedspreads and wraps in the style of patchwork are the highlight of the style. Thought pads, cushions and blankets look like objects of modern abstract art: they can be looked at, like paintings.
It is advisable to paint lamp shades by hand, and stick pictures of children on the walls, arrange crafts on the shelves, because boho is a genre in which each artist is his own.
Venetian style: visiting the doge
He is an alien from the Renaissance. From the time when artists, sculptors and architects tried to surpass each other, creating true masterpieces.
Style features - twisted columns, marble (or its imitation) on the floor, a complex range of shades, surround decor, golden and silver elements, Venetian mirrors, openwork forging, carpets.
The walls are covered with Venetian plaster, silk screening or baroque painting is used. It is permissible to cover the floors with ceramic marble tiles. The bathroom is required mosaic.
The furniture is wooden, light color, impressive and stable, with a virtuoso finish. To time and place bookcases, antique maps and globes.
The upholstery is dominated by velvet, silk and tapestries.
The walls are decorated with copies of famous Italian painters, and the mantelpiece is decorated with candelabra, Venetian masks, Murano glass vases.
Versailles: Monarch's whim
He combines the grandiloquence inherent in the royal chambers with the dignity inherent in kings.
Versailles style is based on the theses of Baroque. And its individual feature is the uniqueness of each piece of furniture. Everything from the chair to the soup spoon should have its own story. Alas, the Versailles style cannot be recreated by buying furniture or anything else at the nearest supermarket.
Basic colors - pearl gray, gold, turquoise, lilac.
The walls are covered with matte paint, decorative plaster, the floors are decorated with a parquet board or an art laminate, which imitates valuable wood and is called “versailles”.
Indispensable accessories in such a dwelling are the Voltaire armchair, sofa and secretary. You can give the living room a look of the cabin if you choose furniture with rounded edges and drape the walls with translucent fabrics.
It is better not to decorate the Versailles living room very abundantly: for this purpose, vases and figurines of ivory, onyx, crystal or a thoroughbred tree are suitable.
Victorian style: noble splendor
During the years of Queen Victoria, Britain turned into a wealthy empire. The rise of industry, new railways and sea routes, trips to the colonies - everything was reflected in the interior design of that time.
Victorian style is a synthesis of the proportions of classics, elements of Gothic, Baroque and oriental, colonial exoticism. Say, the library is decorated in a Gothic style, the living room is decorated in Indian or Chinese style, and the bedroom is dominated by Rococo.
Walls can be pasted over with embossed wallpaper, outline of flowers and birds, or fabric trellis with a painting of oak, fern leaves. A good idea is the panels made of matte wood.
For the floor, parquet or tile with a “wooden” texture is preferable.
The living room is furnished with antique furniture, one of the corners is made "green", placing in it tubs with room flora. The central subject is a fireplace with a wrought-iron grate, it is impossible to imagine a Victorian house without high mirrors in spectacular baguettes, a desk with pencil stands, without armchairs and a tea table.
Color scheme - shades of brown, cherry with fragments of green, lavender, almond shades.
Oriental style: bright and distinctive
Oriental style combines the interiors of many countries in Asia and North Africa, which are largely different from each other. Those who are tired of the poverty of minimalism, who want to surround themselves with Asian luxury and emphasize their high status, as well as people in love with the culture of the East, seek to decorate their home with such an unusual design.
Gzhel: cornflower and chamomile
One of the popular, distinctive areas of ethnicity. Its central feature is the emphasis on white and blue colors, smoothness, “porcelain” textures, objects and details of Russian life.
It is not necessary that the whole house be dotted with typical blue-and-white patterns for Gzhel. This painting technique can and should be metered: more - in the kitchen, because the gzhel begins on the dishes, in the living room it will be limited to covers on armchairs, curtains in white and cobalt colors, and a floor gzhel vase should be placed in the corner. A great option is a fireplace in the form of a Russian stove, covered with white tiles with azure tiles, and in the bedroom - linen, white and blue linen.
The colors of the walls are white, blue, ash, cool. And you can wooden, "under the hut." The floors are also wooden or lined with shiny ceramic tiles.
The surroundings will be complemented by chandeliers and lamps with forged chains and rings, ceramic figures, lace pillows.
The strength of this design is primarily in color: the duo of white and blue comforts, soothes, and the folk ornament is a cultural code that appeals to the heart.
Georgian style: aplomb and prestige
Manifesting in the years of King George, when classicism was in no hurry to give up positions, although it was pressed by rococo, this style lasted much longer than the monarch who gave him a name.
The puritanism of classical lines and the Rococo riot - an alliance risky, but unexpectedly spectacular.
Features of the Georgian interior - a traditional fireplace, the presence of mahogany, stucco moldings, colored glass decorations.
The walls in such a house, as prescribed by classical standards, were divided into three parts: the basement was sheathed with wooden panels, the middle was covered with fabric or wallpaper, and the upper one was decorated with a frieze and cornices. Parquet floors were waxed or polished to a shine. To increase comfort, they used carpets delivered from the colonies.
The furniture in such a dwelling consists of a single headset, all objects are thorough, practical, but not without charm. From fabrics, velvet, damask, tapestries were preferred.
Initially, the house was lit with lanterns and candles, so local, additional lighting plays the first violin in it.
Mandatory elements were paintings, dishes from the finest Chinese porcelain brought from the Celestial fan, and silver snuff boxes.
The Georgian environment today can be recreated if the housing is spacious enough. Wallpaper with a "gilded" border, parquet, vinyl "marbled", heavy furniture along the walls, scalloped curtains, lamp-shaped candles, large mirrors ... As well as a muffled, cloudy color - gray, asparagus, olive - will resurrect a bit prim, but noble Georgian age.
Grunge: chic ragger
This style is an escape from the city anthill to the village open spaces, from pathos apartments to comfortable "nests". He began with the French rich: tired of social life, they increasingly settled in the wilderness, in cozy homes, but with a laconic atmosphere. The union of prosperity and simplicity is popular today.
Create a grunge on a couple of square meters is unlikely to succeed. This style is the owner of spacious rooms, permeated with sunlight. The walls of such a dwelling are often left “naked”, decorated with brickwork or sheathed with a natural board. On the ceiling they leave for review carelessly sanded beams of different thicknesses. The same ingenuity, artisanality is noticeable on the floor: boards, stone, plates. In general, the grunge room has such a look, as if bags of grain or wine barrels were gathering dust here yesterday.
Fabrics choose natural, unpretentious. But the furniture is elegant, flowing forms and respected brands. Shelves and cupboards are preferred for racks, sliding tables and pedestals for monumental tables.
Decorative accents are placed with the help of bleached wood, artificial scuffs, patina frames for mirrors, forged parts and primitive animal figures. A pair of patchwork pillows, a colorful blanket thrown into an armchair, and a retro poster on the wall will become bright, final strokes.
Classicism
Classicism is much like Empire and Baroque, but it is more aristocratic, which means less artsy. There is a place for decor, but it is restrained, it is customary to decorate walls and furniture, but do not use several tiers of stucco molding.
The main features of the style:
- correct geometric shape of the room, zoning is done by columns and pediments, not furniture. An important requirement is a large room height and symmetry in the arrangement of furniture with an obligatory center in the form of a table, bed, etc.,
- beige, cream and pastel shades with brown and green elements,
- Wall decoration is done with textile or vinyl wallpaper, decorative plaster, parquet is used for the floor, different types of wood can be combined. The ceiling is made as simple as possible, but the use of a medallion or restrained stucco molding along the contour is not excluded,
- is used massive wide furniture, textiles matched with floral motifs,
- both massive chandelier and built-in light sources can be used for lighting
- main accessory - large mirror in an elegant frameAlso used are sculptures, floor vases, paintings.
Contemporary
Contemporary reminds minimalism and hi-tech, but does not impose such severe restrictions and involves greater freedom and constant updating of the interior.
- things are compact, used functional functional items onlycrisp and clear lines prevail
- base colors - black, white, gray, pastel shades, and against their background you can use objects of bright colors and unusual shapes,
- can be used both natural materials and massincluding MDF, plastic, metal, glass
- storage spaces should be minimal, all furniture has clear lines and modern design. Preference is given multifunctional and transforming furniture. Glossy textures are combined with matte, interesting ornaments can be used on individual pieces of furniture.
- flowers, paintings, mirrors, modern vases, fancy figurines are used as decoration, and the more unusual the lamps will be, the better.
The style goes back to the 40s of the last century, when the active process of transformation into the housing of former factories and warehouses began, hence its Key Features:
- the loft style interior is huge areas, high ceilings and large windows, a lot of light, “unprocessed” surfaces, visibility of floors and ventilation pipes, lack of walls (only the bathroom is isolated),
- everything prevails in the color scheme shades of gray and terracotta,
- for walls used brickwork or its imitation, the floor can be concrete or laminate, the ceiling is decorated with beams, as a last resort, painted white,
- great importance is given to furniture for seating; large sofas, poufs and armchairs are welcome. In the loft antique furniture and modern elements can adjoin. Furniture can be made of any materials, furniture on legs is often used,
- maximum light, so curtains are rarely used, preference is given to Roman. To create artificial lighting, industrial-style lamps are used,
- accessories must be non-standard and play the role of bright spots: posters, graffiti, reproductions of modern paintings and even road signs will do.
Greek style: chant poem
Majestically, but moderately, expressively, but simply. Is it possible?
- Yes, if we are talking about the Greek style!
Color - white, cornflower blue, green, lemon, nut. The ceilings in such a house are high, often with a square or round window, with a plinth in the form of a meander ribbon or stucco molding, with supporting columns.
The walls are finished with marbled, non-masonry stucco. If plaster seems to you a boring option, you can decorate the walls with paintings - on a mythological theme or the theme of the Olympic Games. The openings are stylized as arches, pilasters and baguettes are added.
The floor is covered with unglazed tiles, similar to pebbles, sand or shells, decorated with sheep skins, knitted walkways or craft rugs.
Of furniture, benches on curved legs, cabinets of light wood, low chairs with wrought-iron fragments are required. The kitchen table is large, hospitable, simple-looking.
Of the decorations, you can advise amphorae, lekifs, wall lamps, figurines of centaurs and nymphs.
Egyptian style: great heritage
A fascinating mix of simplicity and routine with wealth and luxury, the widespread use of symbolic decor and the special geometry of patterns, recognizable by both the connoisseur and the layman - these are brief characteristics of the Egyptian style in the interior.
The color scheme consists of saturated natural colors: orange, yellow, sand, beige, ivory, blue, light green, red and gold.
For registration of the home, only natural finishing materials are used.
The furniture in the Egyptian style is usually massive, stable and comfortable. Feet-shaped legs, chests and chests of drawers, painted or decorated with gilding, with ivory inserts, tables and cabinets with glass countertops - all this is inherent in the Egyptian style.
An important attribute is textiles. Curtains, pillows, rugs and other products have distinct forms, complemented by the beauty of color and the originality of Egyptian patterns.
Indian style: sophisticated and vibrant
The Indian style in the interior is a close interweaving of simplicity and functionality with luxury and sophistication.
Spacious rooms are often decorated in this style, which gives free rein to the realization of the most daring ideas.
The colors in the design are bright, rich, exotic. Warm shades are easily diluted with cold, which visually gives space to the space and depth.
The furniture is squat, functional and elegant, decorated with carved ornaments and forged.
Much attention is paid to textile interior design. The fabrics of various textures decorate walls, ceilings, canopies.
Industrial style: the bare truth
It is for those who love the rhythms of the city and appreciate every minute.
Industrial style (industrial) is a vast area, decoration made of simple and modern materials, functional furniture and a minimum of details.
Common tools are metal, concrete, and aged wood. The walls are plastered, tiles are acceptable on the floor. Instead of curtains, it’s better to attach roller shutters.
The furniture may be the most unexpected items: wine boxes made up in the form of a table, laboratory racks as buffets, stepladders instead of shelves.
A special chic is to find application for things that are not only unnecessary, but broken: from an ancient motor to build a support under the tabletop, turn the car drive into a stool seat. Even old traffic signs that are mounted on the walls are used.
Suitable palette for style - gray, white, brown tones. Additional - egg yellow, green, plum.
Italian style: simple but refined
The key features of the interior in the Italian style can be called historical motifs associated with this country - family and ease.
The interior decorated in the Italian style, as a rule, is distinguished by simplicity and sophistication. And one of the most important features of this style is the use in the decoration of natural materials that emphasize unity with nature.
Such an interior also stands out for its focal points. For example, in the bathroom it will be quite appropriate to hang a ceramic mosaic panel, which depicts a grape valley or azure harbor, an antique mirror, edged with a lush gilded baguette.
A multi-tiered chandelier made of Murano glass or wall engraving will decorate the living room, which will immediately attract the attention of your guests and become a key element in the design.
In the bedroom, the central detail can be made a rare bookcase with books, made with the use of fittings, which is inlaid with precious metals and is part of the relic of your family. Fantasy and knowledge of some of the historical features of Italy will help you make the right choice!
Chinese style: the splendor of the Middle Kingdom
Shrouded in secrets, alluring eastern culture is an eternal object of curiosity for us. In response to this interest, a Chinese interior style appeared.
Making a maid in China home is an art. There is nothing accidental, "just like that" and nothing unnecessary in it. The secret meaning of the Chinese atmosphere is to create an atmosphere of philosophical, calm calm.
Important items in the interior are a screen with a finely painted landscape, squat, wooden, carefully lacquered furniture, carved plywood decorations, lightweight, bamboo partitions.
Walls can be plastered or pasted over with paper wallpaper, invented, by the way, in China. For lack of bamboo, the floors are covered with dark boards, and a mat carpet is suitable. The ceilings in the Chinese dwellings are light and multi-level, decorated with wood and equipped with lighting.
The most revered in the country - the color of cinnabar, promising good luck. Red can be carpet, walls and even furniture. However, they are not rejected brown, wine, almond.
Of the accessories in the most honored places - floor vases, tea sets, fans made of bone or rice straws, bronze figures of dragons, dwarf trees in pots.
English style
Prim and practical today, the English style has evolved over many centuries, changing several times beyond recognition. Modern English is wealthy, comfortable, intelligent. The rooms have a lot of expensive materials: noble wood in furniture and decoration, genuine leather, textiles with traditional patterns: strip, cage, flowers. Mandatory attributes - fireplace and library.
The color scheme is restrained: the colors of wood, deep green, all shades of burgundy and beige, colors and patterns are combined. In the rooms, much attention is paid to lighting: strict floor lamps and table lamps. The furniture, on the contrary, is round and soft, and is located in such a way that it is comfortable both to conduct small talk and to enjoy solitude.
Art Deco (Art Deco)
Art Deco is the most geometric style in the interior. He appeared between the two world wars and became a symbol of celebration and coveted freedom. At that time, science and industry were actively developing - industrial motifs were seen in the style: clear lines, hard angles, perfect symmetry. Geometry is diluted with animal prints, leaves, branches, feathers.
Art Deco is characterized by a stepping in lighting: sconces and floor lamps unfold in opposite directions, up and down, objects are often chrome-plated and shiny, furniture is made of metal or lacquered wood. The colors of the style are rich and bold: gold, black, white.
Grunge
The main feature of the grunge style is the almost complete absence of finish: brickwork, rough wood, concrete walls, unprocessed beams, stone floor. Furniture, on the contrary, is very elegant, often vintage, although not antique. Aged, but modern items are also suitable.
Decorative elements are not found often, mainly practical vintage objects are used for decoration: massive wrought iron lamps, woolen rugs, family heirlooms, photos faded from time to time. It is important that the grunge style is mainly used for large and spacious rooms with large windows, so the combination of classic furniture and rough walls creates a feeling of lightness and cleanliness.
Deconstructivism
An architectural style that flowed smoothly into the design. About deconstructivism in the interior, they joke that it is constructivism turned inside out. Indeed, they have something in common: minimalist interiors without unnecessary details, plain furniture, laconic lighting. But where the similarity ends, distortion begins: all objects are asymmetric, new forms appear, lines pierce space.
The symbiosis of the interior and architecture of the building is characteristic - deconstructivism loves space for the fact that it can be used irrationally and the external illogical appearance of the room, in which everything is an experiment, helps in this best.
Colonial style
The colonial style is a mixture of the cultures of the great empires and their colonies: when the conquerors moved to another exotic country, they built houses with the old taste and new conditions and materials.
The colonial style has several directions: English, American, French, African, Indian ... Each course is different, but there are several common signs - the interweaving of European classics and oriental aesthetics, natural colors with bright accents, the use of exotic decor items and travel attributes: wicker baskets and rattan furniture, African masks, animal skins, maps, globes, an abundance of exotic plants and chests.
Sea style
Nostalgia for the sea in the interior is a combination of white with all shades of blue in all possible variations: from light blue to saturated, close to green and purple colors. Favorite pattern is a white and blue horizontal strip, favorite accessories are those that are related to traveling by sea. It can be shells, starfishes, steering wheels and chests. The floor and walls are wooden.
In this style, it is good to use simple, laconic objects made of natural materials - wood, twine, rope and sailing fabric. Lighting should be as much as possible - therefore, floor windows, glass partitions and many bright and beautiful lamps and floor lamps in a marine style are desirable.
Rococo
Although in many ways it is similar to Baroque, Classicism and Empire (with the latter visually, not ideologically), it still has some features. Home - a monstrous amount of small details in the interior design. The number and colors used are greater. A lot of painting for wall decoration.
Ethnic styles
In search of an original design for the home, you can turn to foreign cultures for inspiration. You can create an original atmosphere even in a small city apartment, choosing the style of the country that impresses more. Stylized accessories, including handmade ones, are useful for creating an entourage. The most difficult and dangerous (in terms of creating a truly stylish design, not bad taste) design style.
Neoclassicism
Neoclassicism in the interior is the luxury of the royal royal styles in a modern, slightly more accessible reading. This is idealization, and then modernization of the past. Such an interior requires a spacious room with large windows and high ceilings, in which the principles of symmetry and proportionality are important.
The walls are covered with light paint, stucco molding on the ceiling, parquet on the floor, possibly a carpet of a calm light shade. Furniture - with elegant legs and easy reference to past centuries. Lighting - for beauty: multi-level chandeliers, wall sconces, floor lamps with lampshades. And of course the decor! Antique sculptures, classic paintings in gilded frames, porcelain vases.
Pin up
Pin-up - a retro style, originating in the period of the American Great Depression: cheerful girls with curvaceous forms were called to cheer up the tired population. Gradually, the principles of a fun coquette found application in design: the interiors came out light, bright, mischievous.
To create such an atmosphere, a little white and a lot of candy colors - pink, yellow, tiffany - are enough to add different cozy textiles to them, hang a couple of fun posters. The furniture is a bit retro - a large and wrought-iron vintage bed, a dressing table, cozy round chairs. The image of the room will be supplemented by weightless flying fabrics with simple motifs - a pea, a cage, a strip.
Postmodernism
Eclectic postmodernism is a style that simultaneously contrasts itself with the entire era of modernism and rebels against modern minimalism. Less practicality: crooked shelves, empty frames, asymmetric furniture, vibrant, flashy colors. For this approach, spacious open-plan rooms come in handy so that there is a place to take a walk.
The more unusual, the better: combine different materials in one object (concrete and wood, for example), put an expensive designer chair next to the IKEA sofa, find fancy posters. Another good solution is a sharp transition from one zone to another: paint half of the room in a flashy pink color, leave the second completely white. Bullies and have fun: postmodernism can allow you this.
Renaissance
The interiors of the Renaissance - the first palace luxury, which replaced the cold castles of the Middle Ages. Characteristic features of the style: elegant symmetry, wall painting and fabrics, domed and multi-level ceiling, stone floors, antique sculptures and ornaments on the floor, walls, ceiling, frequent use of marble, an abundance of columns and pilasters.
Separately, it is worth talking about furniture. There are relatively few items, each one is carefully selected in accordance with the role that it will play. All furniture on thin legs, the correct geometric shape, is decorated with fine carvings, inlaid and gilding.
Roman style
The Romanesque style evokes associations with an old medieval castle or monastery. The main principle is no frills: simplicity of design, large-scale architecture, small windows, powerful columns and dark rooms. A minimum of decor - the main decoration was knightly paraphernalia, as well as stained glass windows, candlesticks and carpets. An important element in each room was a stove or fireplace.
Rough finishes - stone walls and floors, simple and bulky wooden furniture, bronze lamps - these are all the materials that were used at that time. Chests were used literally for everything - both as a closet and as a bench, sometimes even as a bed or table.
Russian style
Three directions are referred to the Russian style in the interior: the traditional village hut, an elegant tower and the so-called "ala Rus". The latter is found in modern interiors and uses details of the Russian past - an oven, traditional ornaments, lace tablecloths and napkins, icons, chests, fringed floor lamps, wall and ceiling paintings, elegant platbands and shutters.
The Russian style is famous for its soulfulness and environmental friendliness: only natural materials are used, the interior is dominated by wooden finishes and furniture. For greater “Russianness” add a samovar or traditional nesting dolls.
Rustic
Rustic is a style of well-to-do village houses, fully furnished with wood. The tree can be perfectly varnished or, which happens much more often, not processed at all: all the knots and bumps, all the complex texture remain in place, as if a tree had recently been cut down in the forest.
In an authentic rustic, all the furniture and decoration are made of wood, but in modern interiors it’s good to borrow only a part of the elements, choosing the wall and ceiling decoration with white stucco. Furniture can be assembled from old planks, pieces of doors and recycled items. Most importantly, some of the items can be modern, using high technology.
Steampunk
Steampunk is a revived book fiction of past centuries. The style is nostalgic for the Victorian era, while enhancing industrial pathos. It turns out futuristic Gothic, in which steam engines captured the world (and modern technology - no).
How to repeat? Take some Victorian furniture - massive, severe, made of wood and leather, add more decorations - pipes, valves, gears, chains, pendulums, sensors, and a pinch of traveler’s attributes - aircraft circuits, maps, globes, suitcases, peppercorns with antique objects era. All that’s left is to hang thick curtains, place a spotlight on the light, and that’s all - your steampunk!
Finnish style
Finnish design is when a big house with huge panoramic windows in a snowy forest, but not a soul around! Finns from other Scandinavians got expressed practicality and minimalism, simplicity in everything and comfort around, but there is much, much more spiritual and warm wood in the interior - on the floor, walls, ceiling and, of course, in furniture!
The tree is diluted with cute things - bright paintings, printed pillows, unusual covers and rugs, rugs, rugs. Finnish furniture is a separate art form: simple, concise, very practical.
French style
The main feature of the French style is graceful, playful eclecticism. The French with famous charm mix styles, materials, colors. In one room, vintage and antique objects coexist with cutting-edge solutions.
In France, they are not afraid of empty space, and at the same time they love coziness, therefore in some places the same room looks minimalistic, and in some places it is excessively filled with trifles: books, candles, photographs, accessories. The colors are warm, almost always light, shades gently move from one to another. The rooms breathe - large windows, high ceilings, elegant furniture on thin legs, open shelves, massive chandeliers.
Functionalism
Functionalism sounds like utopia - all objects must fulfill their role, be beautiful, cheap and convenient. Everything that does not have a function must be excluded. Aesthetics is secondary and important only as long as it does not interfere with the subject's task.
The style is suitable for a calm color scheme - nothing more, and even the colors are ordered and practical. The furniture is geometrically simple, ergonomic, able to change and transform - a sofa bed instead of a bed, sliding tables on wheels, built-in wardrobes. The only thing that is found in abundance is lighting, which, thanks to dimmers and various variations, can adapt to the mood and time of day.
Futurism
Futurism is a style inspired by science fiction. The style is characterized by the desire for the maximum possible technical equipment, original forms, pronounced asymmetry. The decoration is often used metals, plastic, concrete and glass. Upholstered furniture combines leather and metals; wood and plastic are most often used to create the rest.
Lighting is fragmented: throughout the space there are many diode modules built into walls, furniture, ceiling and even the floor. The decor is restrained: you can afford the blinds on the windows, a black and white picture and a huge amount of elegant and ultra-modern technology.
Fusion
Fusion from English means “fusion” and it is a style in which you do not have to sacrifice your favorite things for the sake of design integrity. Use a neutral light background, add various colors, textures and patterns to it.Do not be afraid of contrasts - contemporary art beautifully sets off the vintage, and a long-pile carpet makes the glossy floor even more comfortable.
In this style, objects are chosen emotionally - complex colors are assembled in the interior, rooms do not look completely finished. And it's true - fusion assumes that you will periodically replace one item with another.
Shabby chic
Shebby-chic in the translation of chic "shabby." Abrasion manifests itself in classic vintage furniture, antique accessories, a light, airy atmosphere with stucco molding on the ceiling and an old parquet floor. An elegant, very soulful atmosphere is created using white and light pastel shades, a crystal chandelier, and thin airy fabrics.
The rooms have a lot of hand-made and recycled gizmos, many flowers - especially roses and peonies, many statues - most often these are angels and classic shabby busts. Light covers are put on furniture, pillows, rugs, carpets are obligatory.
Japanese style
Japan is a centuries-old tradition and a special philosophy that actively influences the way and structure of space and life. The Japanese are minimalists - the interiors are almost ascetic, the furniture is extremely functional, there are few accessories: a set for a tea ceremony, bamboo lanterns to create diffused lighting, engravings that bring good luck, bonsai trees.
The interiors are monochrome, they have natural motifs and hieroglyphics, the materials are exclusively natural. There is little furniture - the Japanese often eat and meditate on the floor, so it is all decorated with mats and tatami (cane mats).
Mid-Century modern
Mid-century modern is distinguished by its emphasized functionality, clear lines and the main principle - everything should be as convenient as possible. Of great importance are colors - bright, deep, often natural, often concentrated industrial. Style representatives like to mix textures and materials, give a lot of attention to lighting and furniture. A lot of objects created under the auspices of Art Nouveau mid-century, entered the golden classics of design and are still the object of desire of our contemporaries.
A great advantage of the style is that with its help you can create both a retro look and a modern, fresh look.
Kitsch: harmony is the other way around
Piercing-bright, absurd, absurd, kitsch for those who have their own opinion on everything, their own assessment and criteria. Rebels and nihilists feel in a similar interior, like a fish in water.
When he appeared in the arena, it is impossible to say for sure. Obviously, kitsch has always existed, because the meaning of the word is bad taste.
However, designers got down to business, turning bad taste into irony, a mockery of mass fashion. Actually, this is the task of kitsch style. It can only be done by those whose sense of proportion is as acute as a sense of humor.
Kitsch has no specific rules. The only wish is not to turn the entire area into a picturesque bedlam, but to confine yourself to a room.
Special features: wild combinations (for example, a velvet curtain and a plastic chair), artificial flowers, sweeties, demonstrative disharmony, the presence of "cult" things for the average person - a rug with deers, lurid reproductions, postcards with winking beauties or shell boxes.
Conservatism: Old-Fashioned Integrity
If you are a homebody and be wary of all sorts of surprises, then most likely you are a conservative and this style was created for you.
In a house dominated by conservative orders, everything is familiar, everywhere familiar, necessary things. Conservatism is the enemy of confusion, all objects are in their "hardened" places and are inherited.
The construction and finishing repertoire of this style is durable materials, natural or from high-quality synthetics.
The furniture can be finished with veneered wood beneath. The windows are cleaned with simple curtains without a pattern; the walls are covered with warm-colored wallpaper: cream, nut, pear.
A fireplace begs such a house, on the shelves of which you can put black and white photos of the patriarchs of the family, thereby emphasizing the connection of generations. You can not do without wall lights, as this interior needs a soft, dim light.
Lounge Style: Pillow Nirvana
Lazy, idle rest, that's what a lounge is.
His biography is very short, because he has developed recently. The main message of the lounge style is to organize the space in such a way that the owner of the home receives maximum peace and pleasure from relaxation. Not in vain did not only designers work on the development of style, but also psychologists, as well as design engineers.
The central hero of the interior is the most comfortable sofa, which takes the form of a body, easily “flowing” into a bed, then into an armchair, or simply into a pillow. "Reasonable" this item should, however, have a special shelf: right, do not get up on the same bed side to drink a cup of coffee?
Bean bags, soft sun loungers and other items that are exceptionally comfortable and pleasant to the touch are the basis of the lounge.
The interior lines, of course, are smooth, rounded, because it is precisely such people that relax, pacify, put to sleep. The colors are idyllic, not disturbing to the eyes.
Interior details are not overloaded. A multifunctional sofa and household appliances that are easy to operate without getting up from the sofa ...
Loft: Industrial Glamor
[ads_block]
All interior styles: Loft
Although this word means “attic”, it’s not about how to equip the attic. Loft is a trend in interior design, with which abandoned industrial buildings: workshops, hangars, garages adapt for expensive, elite housing. At the same time, the loft combines the old (concrete walls, stairs, beams, ventilation and pipes) and the current (upholstered, furniture, mirrors, the latest technology) into a stylish, single ensemble.
The interior of the loft is characterized by the complete absence of internal partitions, a high ceiling characteristic of an industrial building, zoning with contrasting colors, pipes, shafts, cables and other factory "dowry" as a decor.
Materials - concrete, brickwork, rough stucco, ceramic tiles on the floor. Furniture serves not only for its intended purpose, but divides the room into a working area and a sitting area.
The owners of the first loft-style studios were artists, which was reflected in the design tradition: the harsh gray walls enliven with stained paintings, soften the concrete floor with fluffy carpets.
Is it easy to create a loft with your own hands?
- Yes, if the dwelling is spacious and mainly high. Part of the walls is cleaned to old brickwork, part is covered with putty, another part is painted in a lead tone, receiving three spatial zones for various functions. Heating systems, plumbing and other communications stick out, painted in silver.
Between the walls and furniture, which should not be much, leave passages. Mandatory metal shelving, "office" armchairs on wheels, leather sofas. From the decor, graffiti, colorful posters, huge photos, textured wooden boxes and barrels are recommended. The paintings are often left either on tripods or leaned against the walls.
Moorish style: oriental tale
The Moorish style in interior design can be quite multifaceted and interesting, but always extremely proportional.
The colorfulness in the Moorish interior arises from the Arabic decor and ornaments on authentic textiles, while the design is based on European ones: symmetry, furniture and the principles of organizing living space.
Mannerism: a beautiful chimera
There was such a stage in European art in the sixteenth century, which was reflected in the interior decoration. In essence, this is a tendency - to flowery, ornate, wisdom and illusory.
In art, mannerism preached the primacy of form, not content. He became famous for the same in room style. It is characterized by neglect of layout and composition, the presence of paintings and inlays, grotesque, fantastic ornament, and a whole list of “pseudo”: pseudo-bas-reliefs and pseudo-drapes, false windows, doors and even curtains, fraudulent arches and statues. Admiring one single element for this style is more important than the integrity of the picture.
The details of mannerism in a modern dwelling are walls painted or pasted with specific tapestries (with figures of mythical animals, angels and allegories), a large number of paintings, major colors and a variety of furniture with fancy carvings and inlays.
Moroccan style: the tale of Scheherazade
The houses of the inhabitants of Morocco are so distinctive that their traditional way of registration is rightfully highlighted in a separate style.
Its distinctive properties are the use of shades characteristic of African, Arab and Asian cultures, a variety of patterns, arches, decorative little things made of wrought metal and porous, unglazed clay.
In the Moroccan interior, several bright, contrasting colors triumph - ultramarine and strawberry, gold and purple, turquoise and copper ... Stone or rough wooden floors are covered with variegated, handcrafted rugs. If they use porcelain tiles, then lay out the mosaic, which is also typical of Morocco.
The walls are not pasted over - they only paint, and in the hall and bathroom they are tiled.
High ceilings give the appearance of the sky, covering them with azure. In rich houses you can see openwork and multi-layer wooden ceilings.
In niches characteristic of the Moroccan interior, lamps are strengthened. Covering them with carved or forged gratings, they make false windows. Tall, arched doors are decorated with carvings, windows are equipped with shutters or framed by forged "lace".
The furniture is mainly carved in dark wood. Among the furnishings are benches, chests, cabinets, footrests. The bed is almost always under a canopy. There are many colorful pillows and pillows on the sofas and ottomans. There are, of course, carpets, not only on the floor, but also on the walls. Curtains can be plush, brocade, silk - most importantly, folds and tassels.
You can add hot Moroccan “spices” to the interior thanks to accessories: these are brass jugs and ceramic bowls, a hookah, copper trays and teapots, animal figures from terracotta.
Military: adventurism at home
It was invented for those who are attracted to military aesthetics, who love risk and adventure.
The signs of housing in the military style are a specific range, decor and the same furniture.
The most common colors are olive, khaki, swamp, gray, mustard, brown, spotted camouflage.
Furniture - emphasized simple, with military lines clear.
Walls are made “brick-like”, covered with artificial stone or decorative, rough plaster. For sewing curtains use canvas, cotton, linen. The bed is sometimes cleaned with camouflage net, placing it as a canopy.
The house is decorated with battle canvases, portraits of commanders, heraldry, weapons. Often military interior is enriched with baroque armchairs, velvet curtains, marble busts of military leaders. This technique raises the status of the house from an imaginary dugout to the conditional headquarters of a major strategist.
Neoclassic: neat parade
A style for those who appreciate solid, timeless and fashionable things without rejecting the innovations of progress.
Neoclassical signs are a sense of proportion, rejection of excesses, natural colors and “eternal” decorative details: stucco molding, borders, mirrors.
The walls are painted or pasted over with wallpapers of cream, blue, pistachio tones, the floors are covered with a light board, the ceilings are given a white color, decorating with discreet stucco molding. Doorways are sometimes decorated with pilasters.
Elegant furniture made of light or red wood is located symmetrically relative to the center; as a rule, a fireplace is located in the living room.
A fashionable chandelier is "helped" by sconces and floor lamps.
Curtains are dense, on the floor, possibly with lambrequins, but restrained in shape.
The room is “freshened up” with a large, expressive mirror, several paintings and fresh flowers in elegant vases.
German (German) style: constancy and prosperity
Hardworking, economic Germans brought a lot of ideas into the treasury of construction and construction.
Strength, solidity, comfort - three pillars on which the German style rests.
It is not feasible without high-quality finishing materials, an ideal, once and for all thought-out order for all objects and things.
About the color: most of all Germans are impressed by the shades of wood, so inside the German mansions one can observe their various combinations: chestnut and golden walnut, yew and the color of bog oak. In such a color, most often, walls are decorated.
To match the floors: once only wood, and today they use both laminate and tile "wooden" shades.
The ceiling is painted white, highlighting dark cherry, chocolate or graphite textured beams. However, recently resorted to tension structures more often.
No cornices and borders, frames of large windows are light in appearance, without "bells and whistles". There are almost always skylights.
Furniture is an example of classic lines. Pragmatic tables, comfortable but strict sofas, square, stable chairs made of natural wood.
The role of textiles is traditional: these are sofa cushions, covers on armchairs and chairs, tablecloths, as well as matte, without fringe and ruffled curtains.
Crystal chandeliers, lamps with forged fragments are not held in high esteem. The advantage is simple frosted glass shades.
The rooms are decorated with paintings, family photo portraits, vases, souvenir beer mugs.
Onto art: the art of being
Onto-art in the interior design allows you to create a fresh, inspired interior, not without its convenience.
This style is characterized by: practical and comfortable environment, natural color palette, high-quality, environmentally friendly finishing materials, good lighting and, of course, the ubiquitous presence of ont-art images.
Ottoman style: traditions of the East
Ottoman interior combines a mixture of Arabic, African and Indian canons.
Smooth lines, arched openings, elegant patterns, attention to nuances, natural textiles and warm diffused lighting will allow you to realize Eastern fairy tale in my house!
Parisian interior: elegant and modern
If you consider yourself to be romantic natures, then you will definitely like elegant interiors in the Parisian style.
The Parisian interior reflects the chic and bohemian sophistication of the capital.
Modern Parisian apartments are clean, light-filled spaces, functional and comfortable at the same time.
Speaking about materials for furniture, you can go deep into the variety that Paris apartments are full of for a long time. These are classic wooden objects with carved elements, and plastic, and glass, and metal, including chrome or patinated.
Parisians are especially fond of natural textiles: velvet, linen, wool and silk, often lace, and even in men's interiors it is found, however, in a more restrained form.
Acid shades of pink, yellow and green should be left for fusion or kitsch, and the interior in the Parisian style is the focus of moderate color combinations, pure or pastel derivatives, diluted with graphic gray or black.
Unique items called art objects today are another key feature of Parisian apartments.
Postmodernism: a fashionable eccentric
Postmodernism in the interior - the freedom of creativity, the dynamics of lines, a variety of shapes, symmetry and asymmetry, the contrast of textures and textures, original designs.
Priority colors are vibrant, with a tint and fluorescence.
There are no uniform rules regarding finishing materials, but the walls are diversified by niches, inserts of glass, plastic or metal. The ceilings are multi-level, of different heights, one-color. If the floor is covered with carpet, then a vigorous, saturated color.
The furniture is striking in its extravagance. Objects of various shapes, with strict and streamlined lines, with finishes made of leather and chrome, wood and plastic, glass and nickel are adjacent, without quarreling. Armchairs and sofas are sometimes so futuristic that the atmosphere seems to be a frame from a utopian movie.
The impression of unusualness is enhanced by the details of the decor: vases with knotted bare branches, dried flowers in pots, avant-garde canvases, shocking prints.
The lighting is distinct, which chandeliers and floor lamps with halogen and LED lamps can provide an extraordinary shape.
Retro interior: back to basics
Retro style is a reminder that everything new is well forgotten old.
Retro style design can be very diverse. The interiors of the 50s, 60s and 70s have certain differences and are a kind of sub-directions of retro stylistics. Which, in turn, allows you to choose the most attractive design for your home.
When designing a home in retro style, special attention is paid to color scheme, furniture and accessories.
Roman style: ave, Caesar!
This kind of decor is a metaphor for ancient Roman greatness and patrician luxury.
Mindful of the atrium as the core of a Roman villa, interior design should begin from the center of the room. This part is accented with ornament on the floor, podium device, carpet finally. It is also worth remembering spaciousness and symmetry, the two most important dimensions of the Roman style.
Walls are decorated either with plaster, marbled tiles, or expensive, elite wallpapers. If the furniture is worthy of attention, then the walls are given a discreet color, not forgetting the stucco molding and niches for statues and vases.
Let the ceiling be multi-level, like a dome, which allows you to hide electric lights and create the illusion of sunlight. And you can draw it with beams, arranging caissons, which is also characteristic of a Roman villa.
For the floor, synthetic analogues of natural, noble stone are suitable. The tree underfoot is uncharacteristic for Roman dwellings.
The style of Roman furniture is a conglomerate of Etruscan roughness, Greek conciseness and generous Egyptian decoration. Armchairs and couches with “winged” and streamlined backs, small sofas with cushions, low tables will transform the home, bringing it closer to the era of Roman prosperity.
The fabrics are also different. The bedroom has fine silk, the kitchen is linen. Curtains and pillows with fringe, twisted cords, gold threads.
There is no Roman villa without a bath, so you should especially try to recreate ancient Rome in the bathroom.
Hyugg: the secret of Danish happiness
Hyugge - this is all related to comfort, giving a feeling of happiness. Imagine: outside the window, frost, and you are sitting in a soft chair, wrapped in a fluffy blanket, sip tea from your favorite cup and thoughtfully squint at the fireplace ...
This cozy feeling is the hugg!
The main features of the style:
- natural materials
- light, pleasant tones
- warm, wooden floors,
- an abundance of lighting devices, candles,
- little things dear to the heart
- pillows, rugs, carpets, natural decor,
- vintage.
Shabby Chic: Cute Quirks
Shabby Chic - the brainchild of a British designer Rachel Asheville. At flea markets, at sales, she found old furniture, restored, decorated, upholstered ... And sold with increasing success. Today, "shabby chic" is the favorite guest of many houses.
An apartment in the style of shabby chic is: white and pastel colors, authentic pieces of furniture from different eras (baroque, rococo, victorianism ...), romantic motifs, the presence of hand-made crafts and the constancy of living, often spring flowers.
Floors are often light, from parquet, laminate or tile. The ceiling is pristine white, with light stucco, light beams. The walls are whitened or painted in warm tones, wallpapered with delicate and faded bouquets, cherubim, thin stripes.
But for furniture you have to go not to a modern salon, but to a flea market. Or in the attic. Old dressers, cupboards, coffee, dressing tables on carved, filigree legs, chairs and beds with through-over heads are first restored, covered with light paint, deftly emphasizing or imitating scuffs, patina and cracks.
The highlight of this style is false fireplaces with paintings, flower arrangements, scented candles. And also surprise items: a tea table from painted and old suitcases, a bedside table from a vintage fruit box.
The role of textiles is not belittled, he is a full-fledged player: on armchairs and sofas they sew covers and capes with frills and bows, on pillows they put pillowcases with embroidered peonies, tables are covered with linen, with tablecloths, curtains are covered with light organza. However, it is a mistake to think that only fine fabrics are to taste, and burlap is also used, combining it with lace and ribbons.
Crystal chandeliers with clusters of pendants and beads, as well as floor lamps with variegated, cheerful lampshades, will successfully complement the style.
Eco style: grass by the bed
The farther a person is from nature, the more he yearns for it. Evidence of this is the ecological style that is popular among residents of large “anthills”.
His resume is a bet on natural materials, an abundance of light, soft colors, natural fabrics, vibrant, green decor.
The walls of such housing need wood, cork, wild stone or ceramics. It can be panels, and rough tiles, and bamboo wallpapers. Decorative plaster is not excluded. The ceiling is simple, without hinged structures.
The floors are paved with a board, parquet, which pulls you to walk barefoot, especially since they are covered with rugs with imitation of grass, mats made of straw or hemp.
Furniture - from a variety of natural gifts: wood, rattan, reed, vines, bamboo. Even on soft objects, on the armrests and backs, there are wooden inserts. Stone details (for example, a table support), as well as glass as countertops, will not spoil the overall picture.
Living greenery is widely used for decoration: it can be climbing plants that cover the wall with a succulent carpet, and also compositions in bottles and glasses - florariums.
Ethnostyle: a trip home
He has as many hypostases as there are ethnic groups in the world. Someone is drawn to a stranger, intriguing, unusual, and someone seeks to emphasize their own national identity. With ethnic design, you can "move" to Egypt, Mexico, India, China ... And you can stay at home, returning to the cultural origins of the native people.
Are there general rules, or at least hints, universal for all varieties of ethnicity?
